About this project

The economic crisis that came about at the end of 2008, put an end to the development of ‘Brouwerspoort’. Ingenious took a risk in 2010 and gradually took care of finishing the most complex building blocks of this area development. Ingenious is currently building the last 75 houses with commercial space and a new prestigious entrance for the existing shopping centre ‘Corridor’. By the end of 2024 we expect this to be ready. Ingenious has developed 5 building blocks in total, of in total 160 houses and about 3,000 square metres of commercial space.

About this area

The first idea for renewing this eastern part of the centre came into being in 1989. There was a need for a new centre area that no longer just focused on shopping, such as the old centre. The ‘Brouwerspoort’ drastically changed this. In more than fifteen years’ time, more than 600 houses were built. This made the centre attractive, because of a varied offer of shops, offices, culture and leisure.

The strength of ‘Brouwerspoort’

Centre development ‘Brouwerspoort’ is a transformation of an old, industrial centre area into a new dynamic centre, with room for housing, work, shopping and leisure. The total area size is about 13 football fields.

The centre of Veenendaal has changed into an almost unrecognisable area. Huge areas of parked cars used to determine the street view, but now people live here, work here and shop here alongside a newly built canal.

The Board of Government Advisors noticed this as well. They regard ‘Brouwerspoort’ as an example of how complex city centre redevelopment is currently shaped. Are you interested in the story of the Board of Government Advisors? Please click here
